Today as we were out and about, trying to keep from having heat strokes, we had to keep the princesses shaded. We had a few folks ask us if the girls were twins. That was cute. And they do look amazingly similar at times. Other times, not so much !!! However, Olivia is much tanner than Kendall, simply from being out in the sun so much in Key West. I forgot to mention that when we went to Chung Yi on Tuesday, the director and a few of the other staff members were the same as when we had our Gotcha Day with Olivia. They recognized her of course, but commented like crazy on how dark she had gotten and how we didn't keep her pale enough. WHAT ???? LOL !!! Seriously though, when we left with Olivia in 2008, one of the last things they told us was to keep her pale because they liked that better than being sun-kissed. Oh well, Life's a Beach !!!! LOL !!!!
I have not yet mastered the art of getting both girls to smile at the same time. When it happens, it is a rare treat !!
Sisters holding hands.I MISS MY CATS SO MUCH !!!!!!!! Simone and Franzi are taking care of them. I am praying everyday that they are ok. We were walking by this English language school and saw this cat inside. Its the first house cat we've seen since we left home. Anyway, I had to go in and get a look at this oddball. He looks like a Scottish Fold with a ridiculous shave job. Fuzzy head and tail but the rest of him was shaved.
New Mr. Donut fans !!!! The world's greatest and tastiest donut.
This is how adventurous we get with eating out. You can only eat so many McDonald's cheeseburgers, or TGIFriday's, or Chili's. I mean sometimes, you have got to eat LOCAL !!! It is hard to screw up a tater tot !! LOL !!!! Sisters
The rare and elusive "genuine smile at the same time" photo !!! Beautiful !!!!!
And off they go, spinning and twirling.
Our exchange student told us a few years ago, the lighter and less hairy you are, the more superior you are. Dark skin alludes that you must be farmer, someone that has to sweep the streets, etc. Someone else told us that Asians see themselves as better than several other races because they are less hairy. I was rather amused when I found our 18yo male exchange student shaving stubble that I could never see on his face!
ReplyDeleteBTW, love love love their smiling faces as they twirl!
ReplyDeletesuch cuties - love the twirling ;)

The girls are beautiful and it looks like they are getting along great. Yes, in Asian culture, light skin is beauty. In some of the cosmetic shops there you will find skin lightening products. Indicates no manual labor, luxury of staying indoors. As opposed to our culture, tan = have the luxury of being on vacation. I got lectured all the time by my parents on not keeping the boys pale. What can I say - they love to play outside.
